No matter what your interests, the diversity and abundance of Los Angeles’ annual festivals and celebrations add luster and present visitors with the opportunity to sample exotic cultures and fabulous cuisine.
A sampling includes the Tournament of Roses, the world’s most spectacular floral parade each January 1st in Pasadena; January’s dineLA Restaurant Week, when guests can sample various cuisines, dining neighborhoods and restaurants throughout LA; February’s Golden Dragon Parade in Downtown, ringing in the Chinese New Year with 100-foot-long dragons, firecrackers and martial arts demos; and in March, the star-studded Academy Awards® in Hollywood and the citywide Los Angeles Marathon. April’s festivities include the Renaissance Pleasure Fair, with Elizabethan-style merrymaking in Irwindale on the Eastside, and the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on the Westside. May includes the Venice Art Walk and Auction, when artists’ open-houses and a food fair delight visitors in Venice Beach; and the Valley Greek Festival in the San Fernando Valley, which attracts some 50,000 visitors for Greek music, dancing, food and fun. In July, OUTFEST, the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, features film screenings, parties and panel discussions in Hollywood and throughout LA. The Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival is one of September’s highlights, with lobster feasts, performers and fun in San Pedro on the LA waterfront. October includes the Calabasas Pumpkin Festival in the San Fernando Valley, and in December, the Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade lights up the nation’s largest man-made marina with hundreds of brightly decorated yachts.
