LAX Layover Ideas
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the sixth busiest passenger airport in the world, with more than 55 million people passing through every year. Approximately 80 passenger carriers (including all major airlines) serve LAX.
LAX has nine passenger terminals connected by a U-shaped, two-level roadway. Domestic flights arrive and depart from Terminals 1-8 All international flights arrive and depart from the Tom Bradley International Terminal. Curbside baggage check-in is available on the upper departure level. Baggage claim is on the lower level.
A vast variety of restaurants, cocktail lounges, gift shops, newsstands, restrooms, public telephones, business centers and duty free shops for international flights offer convenient services within the airport.
More than 21,144 parking spaces are available with valet parking available across from Terminals 4 and 6. Free shuttle service to airline terminals is provided every 10-15 minutes around the clock from Lots B and C. Perimeter parking Lot C, northeast of the airport, also contains the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Bus Center, which connects public bus systems with the courtesy LAX shuttle bus service provided by the airport.
Among the modes of transportation available at LAX are airport bus service, door-to-door shuttle van service, local bus lines, light rail, rental cars and taxicabs. A free, frequent shuttle bus connects LAX with Metro Transit Authority's Green Line Light Rail. Shuttle service is provided at no charge for passengers making connecting flights between terminal buildings.

- 405 Southbound, Century Blvd. Exit - Southbound La Cienega, right turn into driveway. South of Lennox Blvd.
- 405 Northbound, Imperial Hwy. Exit - Westbound Imperial Hwy, Northbound Aviation, Eastbound 111th St., left turn into driveway.
- 105 Westbound, Aviation/Imperial Hwy. Exit - Westbound Imperial Hwy., Northbound Aviation, Eastbound 111th St., Left turn into driveway.
Directions to Lot C: (Long-Term Parking with Free Shuttle Service)
- 405 Southbound, La Tijera Blvd. Exit - Westbound La Tijera, Southbound Airport Blvd., Westbound Westchester ParkWay, Left turn into driveway.
- 405 Northbound. Century Blvd. Exit - Westbound on Century Blvd., Northbound Airport Blvd., Westbound Westchester ParkWay. Left turn into driveway.
- 105 Westbound, Sepulveda Blvd. Exit - Northbound Sepulveda, Eastbound 96th Street, Left turn into driveway.
From Monday through Friday, early morning bus departures from Union Station to LAX are at: 5 a.m., 5:30 a.m., 5:50 a.m., 6:10 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 6:50 a.m., 7:10 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 7:50 a.m., 8:10 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 8:50 a.m., 9:10 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Between 10 a.m. and 1 a.m., buses will depart every 30 minutes. Between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. service is every hour on the hour.
From LAX to Union Station buses depart daily between 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour. Early morning buses between 1a.m. and 5 a.m. depart LAX on the hour. Passenger pick-up time is listed for bus arrival at Terminal 1. Allow extra time for pick-ups at Terminals 2–7.
FlyAway service runs between Van Nuys and LAX 24 hours a day - 7 days a week, with buses running every 15-minutes from 4:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Buses depart every 30 minutes from 10:00 a.m. to midnight with hourly service from midnight to 3 a.m. Early morning bus departures from Van Nuys Bus Terminal are at: 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.
Monday through Sunday from LAX to tVan Nuys, buses depart LAX terminals every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour from 5:30 a.m. to midnight. From midnight to 12:30 a.m., buses depart from LAX every 15 minutes. FlyAway early morning bus departures from LAX are at: 1:15 a.m., 2:15 a.m., 2:45 a.m., 3:45 a.m., 4:15 a.m. and 4:45 a.m.
FlyAway service from LAX to Westwood runs hourly from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. On Thursday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. buses depart hourly, and every 30 minutes from noon to 11 p.m. On Friday, buses leave LAX terminals every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Passengers have access to free Wi-Fi Internet on the smaller CNG clean fuel buses used on the Westwood route.
Service from Westwood to LAX runs hourly from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. On Thursday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. buses depart hourly, and every 30 minutes from noon to 10 p.m. On Friday, buses leave LAX terminals every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Passengers have access to free Wi-Fi Internet on the smaller CNG clean fuel buses used on the Westwood route.

LAX provides many services to assist passengers or visitors with disability. Along with special parking spaces, ramps and elevators, a free shuttle equipped with a lift for disabled persons in wheelchairs operates between Lot C and airline terminals.
