7 Winter Things to Do
Winter is here, but don’t stay inside! Bundle up and gather your family and friends to celebrate the winter season all around Los Angeles.

1. Take a unique tour of LA
Take a drive through Hollywood’s tragic history, discover the amazing architecture of Walt Disney Concert Hall, thrill your inner foodie on an epicurean tour or even embark on an interactive scavenger hunt throughout the city. There's no better way to see the city than with an in-the-know guide, and LA has a variety of unique tours to suit every taste.

2. Hit the slopes

Big Bear Mountain has seen plenty of the big white flakes this season and skiers and snowboarders are already zooming down the slopes. Big Bear Mountain Resorts have unmatched snowmaking systems providing quality snow for thousands of skiers and snowboarders in Southern California each season. Enjoy real snow, real close at Big Bear Mountain Resorts. www.bigbearmountainresorts.com

3. Meet Sumatran Tiger Cubs at the Zoo

In December 2011 the Los Angeles Zoo welcomed an adorable pair of Sumatran tiger cubs on-exhibit as they joined their mother for their official public debut. Guests of the Zoo can finally visit the cubs and see first hand how energetic and playful they are. The cubs and their mother will transition off-exhibit various times throughout the day, allowing outdoor time for the Zoo’s male Sumatran tiger. The Zoo welcomed the birth of the Sumatran tiger cubs on August 6, 2011. Since then, they’ve remained off-exhibit under the care of their mother and Zoo Keepers. www.lazoo.org

4. Hike at night
Fight holiday pounds, take advantage of LA's cool evenings and gain an amazing view of the twinkling city by joining the Sierra Club for a nighttime hike in Griffith Park. Meet other nocturnal hikers and explore moderate trails in the historic park. Visit the LA Sierra Club website for details.

5. Do some detective work
Everybody loves an old-fashioned whodunit, especially if you're right in the middle of the mystery. Murder mystery dinners at Matteo's Restaurant include a four-course meal and live murder-mystery theater where everyone is a suspect. Win prizes, be entertained by professional actors and use your own detective skills to find the culprit.

6. Experience world-class music

Enjoy a classical night out while in Los Angeles with tickets to the LA Phil, led by acclaimed conductor Gustavo Dudamel, at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Or, make a date with the LA Opera, featuring Plácido Domingo performing the title role in Simon Boccanegra from February 11 to March 4, 2012.

7. Indulge your winter skin
LA's spas offer some of the most decadent skin treatments in the world — how else do you think celebrities keep their skin glowing soft, even in wintertime? Try the River Rock Massage at the Luxe Spa at the Luxe Hotel Sunset Boulevard, where warm stones will melt away any winter doldrums. or, for a serious celeb-style indulgence, sign up for the Wrapped in Luxury treatment at the Beverly Hills Hotel Spa by La Prairie, which bathes your bod in Skin Caviar Luxe creams, a Caviar Massage and a 90-minute Caviar firming facial.
