Let’s Play Ball! A 2011 Guide to Dodgers Stadium
Dodgers' Matt KempLA is looking forward to another great summer of America’s favorite pastime with their hometown Dodgers. This year, some analysts say the team is favored to win the National League West, so come on out and see sluggers Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp, pitcher Clayton Kershaw and the rest of the team work their way towards the playoffs once again.

As local fans will tell you, Dodgers Stadium is one of the best venues in the country to catch a ballgame. This is partly due to its long, storied history as the third-oldest Major League Baseball stadium — it has hosted more than 125 million fans, eight World Series and the 1984 Olympics. And Angelenos claim Dodgers fans are some of the most jovial around. Some say that’s due to the plentiful, warm California sunshine; others insist it’s the famous Dodger Dogs and garlic fries. Either way, a day in this classic stadium is almost guaranteed to be an unforgettable baseball experience.

In 2011, getting to the stadium is easier than ever, thanks to the Dodger Stadium Express service. On game days, buses will run between Union Station and Dodger Stadium before, during and after game time and will be free for anyone who shows a ticket to that day’s Dodgers game. You can use the Metro trip planner to find a bus or rail route that will take you to Union Station from around the city. Parking at the stadium is available for $15 per car, but it’s best to arrive early if you plan on driving all the way there.

Even if you can’t make it to a game this season, you can still get an inside look at Dodger Stadium during a behind-the-scenes tour. For $15 ($10 for children under 15), a guide will take you down onto the field, into the Dodger Dugout and through the press box, all while giving you the lowdown on the history of the Dodgers and their 56,000-seat stadium.
