Leave it to Los Angeles to design what promises to be one of the most entertaining marathons of all time.

On Sunday, March 21, 1 million spectators are expected to line the brand-new “Stadium to Sea” course to watch thousands of runners navigate their way from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica in the 2010 Honda LA Marathon presented by K-Swiss.

Live bands and cheerleaders will be stationed at mile markers throughout the race to entertain spectators and motivate runners along a route that passes by some of LA’s most famous sites, including the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Sunset Boulevard, Rodeo Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard.

The race ends at the beach adjacent to Santa Monica Pier, and spectators are invited to watch the race on a huge, seaside video board while waiting for friends and family to cross the finish line.

The excitement of the marathon begins at Dodger Stadium on Friday with the LA Marathon Expo, which continues through Saturday and features entertainment, interactive exhibits and marathon-related giveaways, goodies and information. Make a weekend of it with a reservation at one of the dozens of LA hotels offering race-weekend specials.

Not quite up to running 26.2 miles? Then sign up for the NPN LA 5K Run/Walk, the official warm-up race held Saturday morning at Dodger Stadium, and start training for next year!
