LA for the Holidays
The Millennium Biltmore Hotel's Rendezvous Court comes alive this holiday season.
With parades, concerts and festivals almost every day in December, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate the season in Los Angeles this year. Here is a sampling of events to consider when planning holiday travel:

Grinchmas: December 2010 - January 2011

"Grinchmas" time is coming to Universal Studios Hollywood as The Entertainment Capital of L.A. prepares for a lively holiday season with the Grinch, his faithful dog Max, tons of fresh snow and a "Whoville Whobilation" at the original movie sets where the classic "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" was filmed. Nightly tree-lighting ceremonies, celebrity readings of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and encounters with a "Who's Who" of Whoville characters will be part of the celebration, which expands this year to 18 days, beginning on Dec. 11 and 12 and continuing daily from Dec. 18 through Jan. 2, 2011. "Grinchmas" is included in the price of theme park admission. More information, including holiday promotional offers and information regarding celebrity readings of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," will be available at www.UniversalStudiosHollywood.com.

12 Days of Holiday Cheer: Dec. 1–12, 2010
The first night of this celebration in Burbank is the big kick-off of the season, when the mayor ceremoniously lights the giant tree. Each of the following nights will feature different events, live entertainment, free gifts and more. This yearly celebration draws lots of celebrity guests, including the one-and-only Santa Claus!

Spirits and Spice: Dec. 1–31, 2010
The Millennium Biltmore Hotel's beautifully decorated Rendezvous Court is a one-stop shop for getting in the holiday spirit. Seasonal cocktails (like gingerbread apple martinis), cider, eggnog and cookies will be served throughout December from 11 a.m.–6 p.m. On Wednesdays, live jazz performances liven up the joint from 4–7 p.m. For a little more refinement, winter afternoon tea, sandwiches, scones and desserts will be served Wednesday–Sunday from 2–5 p.m.

The Judds — Celebrating 25 Years of Hits and Christmas Favorites: Dec. 15, 2010

Las Posadas: Dec. 16–24, 2010
In English, Las Posadas means “the inns.” This nine-day celebration on Olvera Street represents Mary and Joseph’s journey to find a place to stay in Bethlehem — or, an inn. Each night there are carols in Spanish and English, piñatas for children to break open and live entertainment.
